How to Play
- Pick a game type: Friends tell stories for a group, or Fact or Fake quiz for solo play or a quiz battle.
- In the Friends game, the teller says three things about themselves out loud — two true, one invented.
- The teller then secretly taps which number, 1, 2 or 3, was the lie.
- Everyone else secretly votes for the statement they think was false.
- The answer is revealed with everyone's votes, points are added, and the next player becomes the teller.
Rules
In the Friends game nothing is typed. The teller speaks, and the app only keeps score. Each player who spots the lie earns one point. The teller earns one point for every player they fooled, so a convincing fib can be worth a lot. Every player tells once, or twice when there are four players or fewer. The highest total wins, and equal top scores share the win.
In Fact or Fake, each round shows three statements about animals, space, the human body, India, food, science, sports or geography. Two are real facts and one is invented. Tap the fake. After you answer, the fake is marked and a short line explains what is actually true. A game has ten rounds and your score is the number you got right. Score six or more and you pass.
When a group plays Fact or Fake, everyone answers the same three statements at the same time, in secret. Each correct answer earns a point, and the most points after ten rounds wins.
Tips & Strategy
- Make the lie boring. People expect the lie to be the wild one. A dull, ordinary lie hidden beside a strange but true story fools far more people.
- Use real details. A made-up statement with a specific place, a year or a person's name sounds remembered rather than invented. Vague lies give themselves away.
- Mind your voice. Say all three statements at the same speed and with the same face. Many tellers rush the lie or smile while saying it.
- Vote on what you know. Your friends' real lives are your best clue. If you have never heard a story before, that alone is a hint.
- In the quiz, test the extremes. Fakes often sound too neat, like "always", "never" or "only". Real facts are usually more careful.
Game Modes
Solo plays Fact or Fake on your own. It is a quick way to learn something new, and every explanation is written in plain language for young players. Your best score is saved on this device.
Play with Friends works on one device passed around the group. The teller holds the phone while talking, taps the lie under a cover screen, and then each voter takes a private turn. The reveal is shown to everyone at once.
Play Online gives each player their own phone. The teller's secret answer and the votes stay on each player's own device until the reveal, so nobody can peek.
Play with Friends Online
Tap Play Online, make a room and share the link or code in your chat. Everyone joins from their own phone, up to twelve players. Because the Friends game is spoken, it works best when you are in the same room or on a voice or video call. The teller talks, taps the lie, and everyone else votes on their own screen. The next teller taps to start their turn once everyone has seen the results.
Two Truths and a Lie FAQ
Do I have to type my statements?
No. You say them out loud, just like the classic party game. The app only needs to know which number was the lie, so there is nothing to type or spell.
Are the quiz facts accurate?
The true statements are well-established facts you can check in a good encyclopaedia, without recent records or disputed claims. Every fake comes with a one-line explanation of the real answer.
Can the teller see how people are voting?
No. Votes stay hidden from everyone, including the teller, until the last vote is in. Then the reveal shows the whole picture.
How many rounds does a game last?
Fact or Fake has ten rounds. In the Friends game every player tells once, or twice in a small group of four or fewer.
Can we play the quiz as a group?
Yes. Choose Fact or Fake quiz when you set up the game. Everyone answers the same statements in secret, and the player with the most correct answers wins.
