How to Play
- Type any real five-letter word using the on-screen keys or your own keyboard, then press Enter.
- Each tile flips to show a clue. A green tile with a small tick means that letter is in exactly the right spot.
- A sunshine-yellow tile with a dot means the letter is in the word but sits somewhere else.
- A slate tile with no mark means the letter is not in the word at all.
- Use the clues to make a smarter next guess. Find the word within six tries to win.
Rules
The hidden word is always a common, family-friendly English word with five letters. Every guess must also be a real word from the game's list; if you type something like "ABCDE", the row shakes and you see "Not in word list", and that attempt does not count against you.
If the answer has one E and you guess a word with two, only one of your Es lights up — the green one first, otherwise the leftmost. The keyboard remembers the best clue for each letter.
Your score is the number of guesses you needed. Missing all six counts as seven, so a lower number is always better.
Tips & Strategy
- Open with common letters. A first word such as CRANE or STARE tests five frequent letters at once. Whatever colours come back, you learn a lot about the vowels.
- Spend a guess to learn, not only to win. If you know four letters but several words could fit (like BATCH, CATCH, HATCH, MATCH, PATCH), guess a word that checks several of the missing letters together instead of trying them one by one.
- Respect every yellow dot. A yellow letter must appear again, but never in the same spot. Moving it around is the quickest way to pin it down.
- Think about double letters. When the clues stop making sense, the answer may repeat a letter, as in SHEEP, SKILL or ROBOT.
- Watch the keyboard, not just the grid. Slate keys are ruled out. Planning your next word from the letters that are still plain saves tries.
Game Modes
Daily word gives everyone in India the same puzzle for the day, based on the IST date. You get one go at it, and a win adds to your daily streak. When you finish, you can share a result grid of coloured squares that shows your path without giving away a single letter.
Unlimited starts a fresh random word every time you press Play again. It is perfect for practice or for testing new opening words.
Online race puts two players on the same secret word at the same moment. Both of you guess at your own speed. Your board shows your letters, and a small board beside it shows your friend's progress as coloured squares with the letters hidden, so nobody can copy.
Play with Friends Online
Choose Play Online and create a room, then send the invite link or room code to a friend on WhatsApp or Telegram. Once they join, press Start and the race begins for both of you. The winner is the player who solves the word in fewer guesses. If you both need the same number of tries, the person who got there first wins. If neither of you finds it, the round ends as a draw and the word is revealed. Start a new race right away for a rematch.
Word Guess FAQ
Is there a new word every day?
Yes. The daily word changes at midnight India time, and every player gets the same one. After that you can keep playing in Unlimited mode as long as you like.
Why was my word not accepted?
The game only accepts real five-letter words from its list, so typing random letters will not work. Check the spelling and try again — a rejected word never uses up one of your six tries.
What do the tick and the dot on the tiles mean?
They are there so the clues are easy to read for everyone, including players who find green and yellow hard to tell apart. A tick means right letter in the right place. A dot means right letter in the wrong place.
Does sharing my result spoil the puzzle?
No. The shared text only has the date, your score such as 4/6, and rows of coloured squares. Your friends can see how you did without learning any letters.
Can the same letter appear twice in the answer?
Yes. Words like APPLE, SHEEP and HAPPY are all possible, so do not rule out a letter just because you have already placed it once.
